چکیده

Cadmium is a most toxic heavy metal and an environmental pollutant. The present study was conducted to evaluate the antioxidant role of vitamin E in cadmium chloride (Cdcl2) induced testicular toxicity in rats. .Male wistar albino rats (n=6/group) were divided into control group (saline injected), untreated experimental groups (Single dose of 1mg and 2mg/kg BW, intraperitonially), and pretreated experimental group (Vitamin E +cadmium chloride). Testicular weight, testicular tissue level of lipid peroxidation, Reduced glutathione(GSH) and superoxide dismutase( SOD) were estimated in all groups. Intoxication of cadmium produced a significant decrease in the testicular weight (P<0.001), superoxide dismutase & GSH level (P<0.001) when compared to control group. Further, a significant increase in testicular lipid peroxidation (P<0.001) was observed in cadmium treated group when compared to control group. Pretreatment with Vitamin E prior to cadmium administration restored the level of SOD and GSH. Testicular weight was also normal in pretreated groups. Moreover, Vitamin E was capable of reducing the level of lipid peroxidation in the testis. Therefore, the present study suggests that cadmium exposure can lead to oxidative damage in the testicular tissue in rats and pre-treatment with vitamin E can protect the testis from oxidative damage induced by cadmium chloride. The Protective Effects of Vitamin E against Sertraline-Induced Damage on Testicular Tissue in Adult NMRI Mice

Background: Sertraline is one of the most widely used antidepressants in the world. The present study was performed to evaluate the protective effects of vitamin E against sertraline-induced damage on testicular tissue in adult NMRI mice. Materials and Methods: In this experimental study, 40 adult male NMRI mice were divided into eight groups of five. The first control group, received 0.3 ml of...

O-2: Testosterone and Vitamin E administration Up-Regulates Hsp70 Protein Expression in Varicocele-induced Rats; Correlation with Leydig Cells Steroidogenesis and Germinal Cells RNA Damage

Background: Varicocele (VCL) impacts the testicular tissue partly by down-regulating the antioxidant status accomplished with reducing the intra-testicular endocrine potential. It has been reported that the HSP70 families play a critical role in spermiogenesis. Therefore, current study was aimed to evaluate the protective effect of exogenous testosterone and vitamin E administration on VCL-indu...

Protective and synergistic effects of vitamin E and selenium against tissue and oxidative damages induced by cypermethrin in the rat’s testis

Background: Cypermethrin is an insecticide that is widely used in pest control programs. Previous studies have pointed out its harmful effects on the male reproductive system. Therefore, in the present study, vitamin E and selenium were used to protect the testicles from the damage of this poison. Materials and methods: For this study, 42 adult male Wistar rats were prepared and divided into 6...

Combined effects of Vitamin E and Vitamin C supplementation on cadmium induced testicular morphology and oxidative stress

Cadmium (Cd) is an environmental and industrial pollutant that affects the male reproductive system. Exposure to cadmium metal is known to induce the formation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) like superoxide radical, hydroxyl ion and hydrogen peroxide. Vitamin E is a lipid phase antioxidant & Vitamin C acts as a potent water soluble antioxidant by scavenging reactive oxygen species. The purpos...
